NWC where called out early hours of the morning to help deal with an arson attack on an industrial property in Birkenhead, upon arrival NWC where asked to erect block ‘n’ mesh fencing to cordon off the immediate area to all sides of the building and across the main road to aid traffic re-routing.
Working alongside Merseyside Fire & Rescue and Police Department NWC were able to form a safe working zone to prevent pedestrian access to the site whilst firefighters ensured the building fire had been completely extinguished and it was safe for an investigation team to enter. As part of the investigation NWC were asked to place an excavator & demolition team on standby in the event that the building was declared unsafe. NWC provided safe access to investigative team members and assisted them with structural knowledge & expertise to ascertain the safety of the remaining building structure. Upon further investigation, it was decided that the remaining structure was to be demolished for public safety and NWC were able to have an excavator & demolition team on site within 60 minutes of the decision.
The building was demolished within a few hours and the road & surrounding areas cleared of all debris, made safe for the public and roads re-opened, liaisons with Merseyside Fire & Rescue and Police throughout the works were maintained and all waste was removed through NWC skip division on the day.
